Blocks for primary schools and after-school clubs
Learning without screens
Moving up to school doesn’t have to mean sitting at desks. JollyHeap® large soft magnetic blocks are teaching aids for years 1–3 that turn the classroom into a space for active learning, experiments and project work, and the after-school club into a place for movement and calm.
One set, unlimited possibilities
How will you use JollyHeap blocks today? Will it be an obstacle course?
JollyHeap blocks are what you need in the classroom:
Counters and blocks for maths
Solids and their nets, patterns and symmetry, comparing and sorting. With the Numo line, number sentences and the hunt for the mistake in them.
Design and technology
A tool for building models and simple technical structures.
A ramp for a simple-machines project
Pupils build the slope themselves and check what rolls down faster, and why.
A model for a project about space
A housing estate, a park or a playground at child scale. The class builds what it is learning about.
Group work zone and a calm-down corner
Both in the same room. After the lesson the set packs away and does not take the room permanently.
A set for drama
The class builds the set for a scene itself, in a few minutes. And rearranges it just as quickly as the scene goes on.
Areas of learning
How do JollyHeap® blocks support early years teaching?
One set works across many subjects in the first years of school. Pick one to see what pupils do with the blocks.
Subjects

Numo blocks are a maths teaching aid for years 1–3: children hold digits and operation signs in their hands, build equations, look for mistakes and learn solid geometry by building three-dimensional shapes.

Pupils step into the role of engineers. They design and raise balanced structures, bridges, towers and models, investigating the laws of physics, equilibrium and the action of forces in practice.

An active break or a PE session without leaving the classroom: pupils jump over obstacles, climb, crawl through a tunnel and find their balance on a path of blocks. The course stays in the room, so movement fits in between other lessons too.

Working on large-format projects in groups demands communication, dividing tasks, negotiating solutions and taking responsibility for a shared result.

A finished structure has to be shown to the class and explained: how it was made. That is speaking practice on a concrete subject of the child’s own, not a prompt from a workbook. Pupils also build from instructions they have read, and when the tower falls they draw conclusions and put it up again.

Combining the four shapes and two colours of a set develops a sense of symmetry and rhythm and spatial imagination. The same blocks become the set for a drama scene, which the class rearranges during the performance.
Support and space

One set is enough for three kinds of class project: a model of a neighbourhood or a park, a ramp for investigating rolling, and a model for observing friction and gravity.

Overcoming the magnetic resistance stimulates deep pressure senses and the hands, while the soft structure helps in work with children with special educational needs.

During lessons it is a tool for experiments, and in the afternoon it is after-school club equipment: a calm-down zone or a screened-off corner for resting.

Why choose JollyHeap® blocks
In line with curriculum guidance
JollyHeap blocks let you deliver objectives in maths, geometry and physics, turning abstract concepts into three-dimensional experiences.
Years of durability and a low cost per pupil
Tested in commercial play centres, the blocks hold their shape for years, and the 10-year magnet warranty makes this a long-term, exceptionally cost-effective investment for a school budget.
A quieter room, no overstimulation
Soft foam and upholstery fabric muffle a fall, so a toppled tower won’t drown out the lesson in the classroom next door.
Recommended sets for a school

Numo 100
Traditional construction blocks combined with maths blocks for group work.

Basic · 100 blocks
An excellent choice for an after-school club: 70 cubes and 30 triangles for buildings, robots and obstacle courses.

Joy · 150 blocks
The largest set: 100 cubes and 50 triangles, for building on a bigger scale in STEAM projects, design and technology lessons and the after-school club. For a class of 25 children we suggest at least two Joy 150 sets.

Numo 24
A handy set for table work and small groups.
An investment that works for years
You buy one tool and use it in many ways. For years, with no electronics that break down, no plastic that snaps, and no tiny parts that get lost in no time.
Built to last
Six years in a playroom is just a warm-up. After six years in our showroom the blocks still looked good enough for a commercial photo shoot.
Service & warranty
3-year warranty, 10 years on the magnets, and after that we replace worn blocks at a preferential price.
Made in Poland
Producing a single block takes 6 people and 25 minutes of handwork.
Quality that builds trust

JollyHeap blocks let you freely reshape the space for work, therapy, rest and play — the child’s entire environment. Countless building options let you create structures tailored to each child’s individual limitations and dysfunctions.

Frequently asked questions
What are blocks used for in years 1–3 and the after-school club?
In years 1–3, large soft magnetic blocks are used for maths and design and technology, and in the after-school club for active play and building a calm-down zone. The Numo sets have cubes with embroidered digits from 0 to 9 and operation signs, so pupils build equations from blocks.
How do the blocks help with handwriting and fine motor skills in years 1–3?
The block size (12 cm) is matched to a child’s hand. Deliberately pulling the neodymium magnets apart calls for precise control of force and work from the muscles of the hand and shoulder girdle. It trains grip and hand strength, which children also need for writing.
Won’t the blocks distract pupils during ordinary lessons?
Quite the opposite. Well-structured activities with the blocks redirect children’s natural energy towards educational goals. Because the blocks can be reconfigured, you can move quickly from intense exercise to a zone of focus and calm.
Will a set survive intensive use by dozens of children a day?
The blocks are made of high-quality, high-resilience polyurethane foam and durable upholstery fabric, and the magnets carry a full 10-year warranty. That quality has been proven in commercial play centres under years of intensive use.
